The Glass Fusion page shows a sample of April's work.  More items are shown at her store
which can be accessed by selecting April's Art Store at left.

April first studied fused glass in the early 1990s when warm glass techniques were beginning to re-emerge as an artform in the United States. She has received an award for Most Original Fused Glass. She has studied in Arizona and Maryland, continuing to add more advanced warmed glass techniques to her repertoire. Her glass was recently accepted into an international open medium show at Gallery International in Baltimore, Maryland and at Maryland Federal of Art's Circle Gallery in Annapolis.

April's fused glass projects are varied in technique, style and purpose. Some of her work is representational, while others explore textures, or strive to evoke an emotion through color and form. You will find dragonflies often appear in her work, from jewelry to candle holders to sculptures.

Jewelry

April's jewelry varies from geometric pieces using bold colors, irridescent and dichroic glass to organic pieces like the pendant shown at left which is made from a variety of glass fused into shapes found in nature.

Practical Art

April's practical art pieces include plates, bowls and candle holders.  Although they can have a utilitarian purpose, April's goal is always to invoke emotion with her artwork.  Often her pieces are an interpretation of animals or things found in natural.

Visual Art

Glass portals and sculptures are among April's  favorite pieces. Here she can experiment with many techniques in larger pieces.  At left are two views of a piece called "Lily Pond".  Glass rocks embellish the back of the piece, the water is a home made sheet created from shards of blue, clear and lavender glass, lamp worked stringers of glass are embedded in the water to give the appearance of debris in the water.  A water lily stands above the water surface in all its glory.
